Job Description

General Summary:The TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) Success Coach plays a vital role in supporting the academic success, persistence, and graduation of program participants. This position provides academic, personal, and career advising to eligible students and helps them navigate challenges throughout their college journey. This is a part-time position that operates from September through June and is off during July and August

Duties and Responsibilities:

Academic Monitoring & Intervention

• Track student performance using academic reporting systems and early alert tools to identify students at risk. Provide timely, targeted interventions to support academic progress.

Data Analysis & Communication

• Analyze retention and attrition data to identify trends and recommend solutions. Communicate student concerns and potential eligibility issues to counselors and faculty.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of student interactions. Compile data and generate required reports for program documentation and student files.

Workshop Facilitation

• Plan and deliver at least one student workshop per month on topics such as time management, registration, stress management, study skills, tutoring, life skills, and bachelor’s degree planning.

Special Projects & Events

• Coordinate and support projects and events aligned with college and TRIO SSS retention goals.

Other Duties as Assigned

• Perform additional duties that support the success of the TRIO SSS program.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Support the Director and Assistant Director as needed.
• Conduct intake interviews with new SSS participants.
• Participate in new student orientation and registration activities.

Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in Education or a related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
• Minimum two years of experience working with adult learners.
• Experience working with Tribal communities or Indigenous populations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with first-generation, low-income, and/or students with disabilities.
• Background in TRIO programs (e.g., SSS, Upward Bound, Talent Search, McNair).
• Experience providing academic advising and success coaching.
• Proficiency with computer systems; experience using Student Access database preferred.
• Knowledge of educational software and student-centered technology

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not supervise other staff.
