Administers active and passive manual therapeutic exercises, myofascial mobilization, and various modality treatments including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, infrared, ultraviolet, hot/cold packs, and hydrotherapy.
Applies traction techniques to help relieve neck and back pain.
Instructs, motivates, and assists patients in functional mobility activities, including ambulation, transfers, and daily living tasks.
Observes and monitors patients during treatment sessions, compiling and evaluating progress data to report to the Physical Therapist.
Fits and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prosthetics, and mobility aids (e.g., crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs).
Collaborates with the PT team and other healthcare professionals to plan and coordinate patient care.
Assists with onboarding and mentoring new PTAs and provides guidance to Physical Therapy Aides.
Performs routine clerical tasks including inventory management, supply ordering, answering phones, and completing required documentation.
Measures and records range of motion, strength, limb measurements, and vital signs to assess treatment effectiveness.
Accurately documents all patient care activities in the electronic medical record (EMR) system per department standards.
Ensures all patients are re-evaluated by the supervising Physical Therapist according to Montana state laws, APTA guidelines, and hospital policy.
Educates patients, families, and caregivers on prescribed home exercise programs to support continued recovery.
Minimum Qualifications:
The PTA must be a graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program and be currently licensed by Montana State Board of PT Examiners.
