Rolling Basis - Minimum 6 weeks Fusion Optix is an LED lighting technology and manufacturing company based in Woburn, MA. Our diverse multicultural team includes graduates from local colleges such as Boston University, Northeastern, UMass Amherst, UMass Lowell, Wentworth, Tufts, and MIT, to name a few. We typically open our doors for exceptional students who are interested in a career in lighting and product design. We offer the opportunity to gain valuable work experience as well as insights into what we do. These placements are the chance to become an integral part of our team for a short-term period, where you will apply and learn hands-on skills in a real-world situation. We are particularly interested in candidates with an interest in mechanical or electrical engineering or industrial engineering and the potential for joining our team post-graduation. Description of Role:

  • Based at our headquarters in Woburn, MA.
  • Member of the engineering team working on new optics and LED lighting products.
  • Junior-level engineering tasks are typical of supporting senior engineers.
  • Engineering design in SolidWorks, production of production drawings and specifications for work orders.
  • Production of jigs and aids for the assembly team.
  • Support production, quality, and product design teams in the transfer of products to production.
  • Product testing, reporting, and presentation of data.
  • Maintain project records and test documentation on a daily basis.
  • Participate in project meetings, company-wide meetings, social events, and training programs.


Qualifications:

  • Current student in physics, mechanical, and/or electrical engineering courses.
  • Interested in gaining first-hand work experience in optics, lighting products, and manufacturing.
  • Competent skills in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office software.
  • Ideally, Solidworks is Certified to the Professional Level, e.g. CSWP.
  • Deadline-oriented and detail-oriented with good time management.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Previous relevant professional lighting or product design experience and coursework are a definite plus.
