Job Description
Description We are looking for a highly skilled Corporate Tax Staff Accountant to join our team in El Segundo, California. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with state and local tax regulations while contributing to process improvements within a dynamic retail industry environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in tax compliance, audits, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure timely filing and renewal of state and local business licenses, sales tax permits, and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Perform tax-related accounting tasks, including invoice reconciliations and payment processing.
- Manage and respond to tax notices from regulatory agencies, ensuring accurate and timely resolution.
- Coordinate sales tax and licensing audits by collaborating with external auditors and internal teams to provide necessary documentation.
- Oversee registration processes for new business expansions, including researching and obtaining permits and licenses.
- Maintain detailed records to track licensing deadlines, renewals, and associated fees.
- Prepare reports for leadership detailing compliance status, upcoming filings, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, and Operations teams to align tax compliance efforts with broader corporate goals.
- Identify process inefficiencies, recommend improvements, and implement enhancements to streamline compliance workflows.
- Partner with technology teams to automate repetitive tasks, such as license tracking and renewals, to improve accuracy and efficiency. Requirements - Proficiency in accounting systems such as BlackLine, CCH Sales Tax, ADP Financial Services, and Concur.
- Strong knowledge of accrual accounting, accounts payable processes, and balance sheet account management.
- Experience in auditing and tax compliance within a multi-jurisdictional framework.
- Ability to analyze data and prepare detailed reports for leadership.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
- Familiarity with risk mitigation strategies and process improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
