Position Summary / Responsibilities:

We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Linux/ Unix Applications Administrator (MUST have Apache Tomcat experience) to join our team in Ashburn, VA to begin an exciting and challenging career.

A qualifying candidate must have a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience. Relevant fields include Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or other related fields. Experience in implementation methodologies and cloud technology. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Experience working with SAP BI 4.3 infrastructure.
• An understanding of Web Servers, Application Servers (Tomcat) and Databases (Oracle, Postgres, MySQL, Redshift, DataBricks).
• Should be comfortable with concepts of application architecture/design for performance using vertical and horizontal scaling, JMS, Connection Pools and J2EE Deployments. The candidate should also have Disaster recovery design knowledge.
• Should have knowledge of cloud technologies, particularly AWS EC2, S3, containers and Kubernetes.
• Solid work experience in Java/J2EE environments to support and troubleshoot the middle-tier applications is desired.
• Proven skills with the BI Rest API.
• Development and management of the SAP BI security model.
• Promotion of objects across dev, test, production environments.
• Troubleshoot and debug any errors occurring in application server environment, application debugging, heap analysis and error doc gathering preferred (i.e. Thread dump, heap dump). Must be able to analyze and tune BI server configurations (plug-in, etc...)
• Schedule recurring and run ad hoc reports.
• Adhere to assigned project schedules with readiness to complete projects within time and budget. Coordinate activities with PM, other team members and developers.
• Maintenance and development of shell scripts in Bash and Python.
• Will need to able available on a scheduled (some on, some off) 24/7 weekly on-call support, including weekends.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Bachelors and nine (9) years or more experience; Masters and seven (7) years or more experience; PhD or JD and four (4) years or more experience. 
• Knowledge of the SAP BI 4.3 architecture and system essentials.
• Experience in Linux / UNIX platforms.
• Experience configuring, tuning and troubleshooting Tomcat applications.
• Experience in performance testing and capacity planning.
• Strong communication skills in verbal and written communication.
• Strong documentation skills.
• Demonstrated experience in working in production environment.
• Excellent teaming skills.
• Ability to multi-task and provide expertise for multiple infrastructure related efforts across concurrent project tasks.
• Must have worked in large enterprise systems.
• Ability to work with development teams and vendors to resolve infrastructure related issues.
• Understanding of database structure.
• Detail oriented.
• Strong problem-solving skills.

Additional Preferred Skills:

• Experience in variety of system platforms, both on-prem and in private cloud.
• Experience with containers (creating and deploying docker files).
• Experience in Bash and Python shell scripting.
• Experience in failover and recovery planning, design and testing.
• Knowledge of Java 8/17.
• Experience with SAP BI Java SDK and/or Rest API.
• Current CBP Full BI Preferred.

Customer requirements:

• Clearance - Must have a current CBP BI or be eligible to obtain one.
• Citizenship - Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Location – Hybrid with on-site 2 days in Ashburn, VA.
